Sacred Heart Community Service

The Heart House Community Building

The new 22,000 s.f., partial two-story facility features a turn-of-the-century architectural style.  The building houses SHCS’ food and clothes distribution areas, education and computer training programs, pre-school and daycare center, shelter placement, Head Start program and administrative offices.

Through the efforts of Blach’s project manager and other team members, Blach obtained $142,000 in gifts-in-kind and other value engineering savings after the GMP was established.  While building the new facility, Blach was able to complete $180,000 of additional work without a change order and still return $170,000 in savings to the client.

Due to these efforts, the Associated General Contractors, the state’s leading trade association for general contractors, bestowed its prestigious Constructor award on Blach Construction for the category “Contribution to the Community.”
