Blach recently completed the San Luis Obispo County Community College District’s new $16 million Dale & Mary Schwartz Learning Resource Center at Cuesta College in Paso Robles.
The Dale & Mary Schwartz Learning Resource Center (LRC) is the second permanent structure on the North County Campus. The 42,000 square foot, mixed-use facility features the campus’ main library, facilities for the Disabled Student Programs & Services, an employee training center and computer services. Mathematics and writing labs, distance learning services, lecture halls, classrooms and faculty/staff offices are also part of how the facility is meeting the needs of its growing campus.
Named after local Paso Robles residents and contributors to the college, the LRC is helping the District in its efforts to improve access to educational programs and services to students in Paso Robles and the surrounding area who are unable to attend the college’s main campus (just outside San Luis Obispo) due to transportation costs.
The new space was funded by state bond money channeled through the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Blach worked with BFGC-IBI Group Architecture Planning of San Luis Obispo, which provided construction administration for the project.
